Description
The module is designed to increase the theoretical knowledge base of healthcare practitioners who care for children with neuro-medical/neurosurgical needs in both acute and community settings.
|
Learning Outcomes
1. Demonstrate an understanding of normal neuro-anatomy and neurophysiology and its application to disordered function. 2. Assess, plan, implement and evaluate evidence-based holistic, family centred care of the child with a neuro-medical/neurosurgical condition. 3. Discuss the neuromedical, neurosurgical, pharmacological and therapeutic interventions available to support the child with altered neurological function. 4. Analyse the psychological, sociocultural and economic implications of altered neurological function on the child and their family. 5. Evaluate the contribution of the multi-disciplinary team in the care of children who have neurological/neurosurgical needs and their families.
