Description
This module will develop research knowledge, critical appraisal skills, and ethical understanding required to evaluate, interpret, and translate research evidence into safe, effective, and person-centred advanced clinical practice.

Learning Outcomes
1. Critically analyse ethical issues and theoretical underpinnings for research design 2. Discuss principal research methods for healthcare studies 3. Critically analyse literature from healthcare research 4. Determine ethical concerns and responsibilities for advanced practice 5. Identification of a clear and concise area of interest within nursing practice for further consideration

Indicative content and learning activities Research paradigms and philosophical foundations of healthcare research.
Quantitative research methodologies:
Experimental and observational study designs.
Sampling, measurement, validity, reliability, and statistical concepts.
Qualitative research methodologies:
Phenomenology, grounded theory, ethnography, case study, and qualitative descriptive approaches.
Data collection and thematic analysis.
Research ethics:
Ethical principles in human participant research.
Informed consent, confidentiality, data protection, and participant safety.
Vulnerable populations and ethical decision-making
Knowledge of research design: qualitative and quantitative.
