Description

The module aims to provide students with the understanding and importance of leadership, quality assurance and governance with a focus on how to utilise these principles when planning, delivering and evaluating an episode of care delivery including the principles and theories of change management The module will also provide students with an understanding of the NMBI domains of competence, scope of practice and shared decision-making processes and their role in clinical supervision. This aim will consolidate the knowledge and skills acquired in semester 1 & 2. The module will also equip students with knowledge relevant to the practice of ambulatory gynaecology in a variety of healthcare settings (Sláintecare and National Maternity Strategy). Students will be given the opportunity to apply their newly acquired knowledge to practice during the clinical practicum associated with the module. During the module students will develop an individual ePortfolio which they can use as a resource and add to throughout their career.

Learning Outcomes

1. Demonstrate autonomous competence in clinical practice with evidence of accountability and responsibility in specialist practice, relevant to your specialist area and across clinical settings.
2. Utilise specialist knowledge and critical thinking skills to demonstrate a knowledge base that shows higher levels of judgment, discretion and decision-making in specialist practice.
3. Use specialist skills in finance, business, data analytics, digital solutions audit and organisational change and design to autonomously identify, evaluate and resolve intellectual issues and practical problems that appear in specialist practice.
4. Demonstrate application of the critical learning and aptitude acquired to proactively develop the specialist service.
5. Collect, evaluate and critique data from practice with the use of applicable tools to profile the current caseload, develop reports and business plans.
