Description

The aim of this module is to enable students to develop an understanding of the structure, location and function of the systems of the human body.

Learning Outcomes

1. Apply the fundamental principles of human physiology to the interpretation of normal bodily function.
2. Differentiate the major systems of the human body based on their defining characteristics
3. Label the key anatomical structures within each major body system.
4. Analyse the physiological functions of each major body system.
5. Evaluate the contribution of interactions between body systems to the maintenance of homeostasis.

Structure and function of body systems
Physiology of Endocrine system, Nervous system, Cardiovascular system, Respiratory system, Urinary system, Gastrointestinal, Immune System, Integumentary system, Skeletal system, and Muscle system.

Homeostasis
Understand the inter-relationship between systems in the maintenance of homeostasis. Recall key homeostatic systems throughout the bodily systems and how their disruption can lead to disease
