Description

This course provides students with a survey of the global politics of climate change. This module will explore the dynamics that characterize the global response to climate change, and the links between international negotiations and climate change politics at national level. Students will learn about the differing challenges and opportunities faced by developed countries, so-called emerging economies, and least developed countries.

Learning Outcomes

1. Familiarity with key policy dimensions of climate change and related areas
2. Ability to critically evaluate contemporary domestic climate and energy politics in high, middle-, and low-income countries
3. Ability to appraise historical and contemporary global governance mechanisms to manage climate challenges
4. Understand systematically the challenges posed by climate change in key sectors and possible mitigation and adaptation responses to these challenges
