Module Title Research Methods & Statistics 3
Module Code PSY1042 (ITS: PSYC310)
Faculty Psychology School Science & Health
NFQ level 8 Credit Rating 5
Description

This module builds on PSYC212 in year 2 and introduces students to sophisticated quantitative research methodologies, designs, and analytical techniques in psychology. It also introduces students to structural equation modelling, latent variable modelling, mediation, and cutting-edge approaches such as psychometric and exploratory network modelling.

Learning Outcomes

1. Explain what multivariate analysis is and when its application is appropriate
2. Explain the appropriate usage of and interpret the results of dependence and interdependence multivariate techniques
3. Evaluate and review empirical research using multivariate statistics
4. Work in a group towards a common research goal
5. Disseminate research findings as a presentation

Resit arrangements are explained by the following categories;
RC1: A resit is available for both* components of the module.
RC2: No resit is available for a 100% coursework module.
RC3: No resit is available for the coursework component where there is a coursework and summative examination element.

* ‘Both’ is used in the context of the module having a coursework/summative examination split; where the module is 100% coursework, there will also be a resit of the assessment
