Description

This module focuses on developing an understanding of selected theoretical, empirical & applied aspects of exercise psychology and an appreciation of the research process. The aims of the module are: • To develop students' understanding of a range of psychological theories, research, and applied guidelines relevant to sport & exercise. • To develop students' understanding of the scientific process involved in psychological research.

Learning Outcomes

1. Demonstrate a factual knowledge of physical activity and exercise psychology
2. Critically evaluate key psychological theories and how they relate to exercise and physical activity
3. Apply theories and principles of physical activity and exercise psychology to the individual and their environment.
4. Carry out research project and write up a scientific report
5. Develop and justify research questions and discuss research findings using relevant theoretical, empirical and applied literature.
