Description

This module is designed for learners of Russian who have some very basic knowledge of the language and Russian culture . After this module students will be able to communicate effectively in Russian about everyday life (such as job, study, family and friends, daily routine, direction inquiries etc). This module enables students to further develop their language competence and cultural awareness in matters of personal relevance and everyday situations.

Learning Outcomes

1. Understand a variety of texts that follows a predictable pattern such as advertisements, menus, prospectus, reference list and timetables
2. Demonstrate effective oral skills in a range of social situations such as talking about your daily routine, food, shopping and expressing opinions.
3. Produce simple texts in writing on matters of personal relevance using simple words and basic expressions. Also, engage in basic social communication online (e.g. writing a simple message on a virtual card for a special occasion).
4. Develop your understanding and control of the basic language system by completing a number of tasks. Understand the concept of verbs of motions and the system of verbs. Errors still occur, but students are more aware of them.
5. Show awareness of social and cultural similarities and differences between Ireland and Russian-speaking countries.
6. Use IT skills to access language-specific-resources in Russian that lead to independent learning (life-long learning).

Portfolio Preparation45Preparation, creation and final submission of the E-portfolio on Loop for assessment that allows teachers to assess individual progress, identify areas of strength, and pinpoint areas that require further attention or support.
