Description

• This module aims to introduce the student to the anatomy of the human body. This module will discuss the musculoskeletal system and provide an overview of the major bones, joints, muscles and ligaments of the human body. This module will also provide the student with the ability to utilise anatomical terminology and introduce them to the structure and function of muscles, bones and ligaments.

1. Employ accurate anatomical terminology
2. Detail the joints, ligaments and muscles of the body
3. Identify the surface anatomy of key features of the human body
4. Explain the functional anatomy of the body related to sports science.

Accurate anatomy terminology and the planes of the body.

The structure and function the systems of the body
The structure and function of the cardiopulmonary system, urinary system, the lymphatic system, the nervous system, the digestive system, endocrine system.

The structure of body tissues
The structure of muscles, bones and ligaments

The foot, ankle, shin and calves
Anatomy of the foot, ankle, and shin including bony anatomy, muscles and ligaments.

The knee and thigh
Anatomy of the knee and thigh including bony anatomy, muscles and ligaments.

The hip and pelvis
Anatomy of the hip and pelvis including bony anatomy, muscles and ligaments.

The spine and core
Anatomy of the spine and core including bony anatomy, muscles and ligaments.

The shoulder
Anatomy of the shoulder girdle including bony anatomy, muscles and ligaments.

The elbow, wrist and hand
Anatomy of the elbow, wrist and hand including bony anatomy, muscles and ligaments.
