Description
The aim of this module is to advance students’ expertise in 1) the rehabilitation of the physically active to facilitate their return to performance or work following an injury and 2) the effective delivery of strength and conditioning programmes in a variety of settings. This module will incorporate workshops at the forefront of the field in a range of topics to advance students proficiency and capability in dealing with complex clinical and performance situations.
The students will be required to organise, manage, attend and lead a rehabilitation clinic every week throughout the academic year and engage with strength and conditioning placements in a number of settings.

Learning Outcomes
1. Organise, manage, and lead the rehabilitation clinic. 2. Advance their expertise in evidence-based rehabilitation techniques, rehabilitation and strength and conditioning planning to maximise return to play/work or enhance performance. 3. Design, implement, and critique evidence-based rehabilitation programmes for the physically active. 4. Design, implement and critique effective periodised strength and conditioning programmes based on scientific principles.

Indicative Content and Learning Activities
Module Content and Learning Activities Review, evaluate and critique 1) existing rehabilitation evidence and practice for common injuries and 2) optimal strength and conditioning approaches to elicit positive adaptations in performance. Develop, plan, and present 1) evidence-based rehabilitation programmes for injuries in the physically active and 2) strength and conditioning programmes based on the problem list or key components of fitness to be improved. Practically implement 1) evidence-based rehabilitation programmes for injuries in the physically active and 2) strength and conditioning programmes. Review and adapt 1) evidence-based rehabilitation programmes for injuries in the physically active and 2) strength and conditioning programmes depending on progress.
