7 To provide skill in utilising library and computer scientific information. 7 To teach methods of collating, analysing and compiling a review on a chosen subject.

Indicative Syllabus
The student will choose from a variety of research topics provided by the academic staff of the School of Biological Sciences at the start of semester 1. Student will develop a number of skills which will be important in almost any discipline or professional activity, including the ability to: · Locate and retrieve relevant (scientific) information from a variety of sources, books, journals and the internet · Organise information in a logically, structured and coherent fashion with reference to specified objectives. · Critically evaluate and compare information · Present information in a clear and concise manner, while adhereing to the conventions of scientific writing and the relevant format guidelines provided. · The literature review should be approximately 30 pages in length and contain complete index, short summary, introduction specific sections, conclusion and bibliography.
