digital experience.
To continue investigations into the complexities of compositional layered image making
in Photoshop 6.0.
To establish a competency in the Illustrator 9.0 application.
To introduce and integrate the graphic image with multimedia practice.
To further investigate project concept building and content.
To contextualise multimedia production within the traditions of practice and
critical-studies in visual culture.
To relate all areas of contemporary image making to the history of art,
advertising, and media studies.
This module is an advanced continuation and overview of the tools, palettes, options,
and related areas found within the PhotoShop 6.0 application.
Vector based graphics are introduced and mastered via Illustrator 9.
Demonstrations and task specific image exercises enable the student to
establish a competence in constructing visual files from information captured
on digital camera, the scanner, world wide web, and original graphics.
Studio critique is the main form of assessment.
Students continue to work with signs and symbols. Analysis, problem solving,
critical discussion and observation as well as aesthetic/compositional skills and
strategies are emphasised allowing the digital to be placed in a relevant cultural
