Module Aims
1. To provide students with an appreciation of the psychological factors related to sport, exercise and well-being. Students will become familiar with relevant theoretical frameworks, current sport and exercise literature and pertinent measurement instruments employed in the sport domain. 2. To develop critical appraisal, oral and written presentation skills. 3. To facilitate independent study by ensuring students further develop their information literacy skills

Learning Outcomes
After successful completion of this module students will be able to: 1. Appreciate the significance of personality, motivation and other characteristics of the individual in relation to physical activity participation. 2. Explain how social and group processes influence individual and team functioning and performance. 3. Demonstrate an understanding of the influence of sport and exercise participation in psychological health and well-being. 4. Demonstrate an understanding of the links between theory and the development of intervention tools and practices employed to optimize sport participation. 5. Be able to summarize primary research in sport and exercise psychology and evaluate its contribution to existing knowledge. 6. Work effectively in a small group context and present in oral form recommendations for sport and exercise psychology interventions. 7. Be able to integrate and apply knowledge of sport and exercise psychology in both written and oral format. 8. Demonstrate an increased understanding of how information is organised. 9. Demonstrate an ability to use the librarys information access tools to locate and retrieve information in a variety of formats. 10. Demonstrate an ability to locate high quality information using the web.
