Module Aims
|
The module will introduce students to the standard approaches of Structured Systems Analysis (using SSADM ):
7Data Flow Analysis
7Logical Data Modelling
7Normalisation
7Entity/Event Modelling
|
Learning Outcomes
|
As a result of this module, students will have a thorough knowledge of the techniques of SSADM and should be able to analyse, model and critique software systems modelled in a structured manner.
Specifically at the end of this module the student will be able to:
7 Understand the role of the systems analyst.
7Design a system using Data Flow Diagrams.
7Document a software system using a Data Dictionary.
7Describe process logic using mini-specifications.
7Normalise a data model to Boyce-Codd Normal Form.
