To develop an understanding of the need for IT architecture and the role of the IT Architect. An increased understanding of the foundations of IT architecture, and a new exposure to principles of best practice in applying architectural principles. An appreciation of issues associated with managing IT architecture.

There is a large practical component to this course, centred around an IT Architecture workshop, held in conjunction with IBM IT Architects acting as mentors, guest lecturers and tutors to the students. Topics include the following ... ? - Components and Patterns - What IT Architects do - Information Security - Non Functional Requirements - Quality of Service -Tools of the Trade - Requirements Analysis- -Use Case Modelling- -Architecture Overview and Component Model NOTE: Places are limited on this module to approximately 25 students.
