Module Aims
Module Aims: 7To teach an appreciation of the importance and nature of environmental monitoring. 7To teach an appreciation of the importance of correct sampling approaches within environmental monitoring. 7To describe analytical technologies and technical tools to qualify, quantify and assess anthropogenic affects upon the environment. 7To understand the nature and implementation of effective pollution control measures. 7To develop an awareness of clean-up procedures for pollution incidents. 7To develop an awareness of legal tools for the control of environmental damage.

Indicative Syllabus: -Environmental sampling, (gases, water and solids) -Monitoring and modelling global change. -Anthropogenic activities and their impact on the global environment. -Environmental impact assessments. -Monitoring the hydrosphere, atmosphere and biosphere. Environmental analysis-Technical measures for pollution and emission control (chemical and biological). -Chemical and biological clean-up technologies for polluted systems. -Pollution control legislation.
