Module Aims
To provide students with an understanding of modern quality management concepts and their application to healthcare from a nursing perspective.

Learning Outcomes
On completion of this module and following a period of personal study the student will be able to7 Critically evaluate the modern concepts and theories of quality management.7 Identify the factors that contribute to the continuous quality improvement process.7 Explore the concepts of Quality management and its application to the Irish healthcare sector.7 Recognise and manage change in their own department.7 Arrange and promote the development of quality initiatives in their own organisation and department.7 Understand the benefits of pursuing a consumer driven healthcare organisation.7 Have a sound knowledge of the tools and techniques available for quality implementation. 7 Identify the various components that make up the Quality Agenda from an organisational perspective.7 Appraise the various evaluation frameworks that exist. 7 Have knowledge of external evaluation frameworks7 Arrange and promote the setting of standards based on structure, process and outcome criteria.7 Identify the key stages of the audit process from a multi professional approach.7 Promote and lead the use of audit in their own department and organisation. 7 Understand the importance of integrating various initiatives to ensure quality integration from an organisational perspective.
