Module Aims
To provide an introduction to the numerical solution of particle differential equations in a physics context.

Learning Outcomes
Be able to formulate a problem involving a particle differential equation in a well posed way including appropriate boundary conditions, and know how to set up a numerical procedure to find a solution.

Indicative Syllabus
Elliptic, parabolic and hyperbolic partial differential equations: Physical examples Finite difference algorithms for elliptic problems, parabolic problems, hyperbolic problems Other numerical procedures such as Monte Carlo methods and particle-based methods. Special purpose hardware for scientific computation.
