To teach an appreciation of the importance and nature of environmental sampling, analysis and monitoring. To teach an appreciation of the importance of correct sampling approaches within environmental monitoring. To describe analytical technologies and technical tools to qualify, quantify and assess anthropogenic affects upon the environment. To understand the nature and implementation of effective pollution control measures. To develop an awareness of clean-up procedures for pollution incidents.
