Module Aims

The module will enable students to
•Develop the appropriate knowledge, attitudes and skills to identify, plan, implement and evaluate health promotion interventions for individuals and communities in a variety of settings.



Learning Outcomes

On completion of this module and following a period of personal study the student will be able to:
•Critically analyse the concept health promotion
•Demonstrate a knowledge of the key principles of health promotion which are also nursing skills e.g. advocacy, empowerment, collaboration/partnership, promotion of community action
•Critically evaluate the various health promotion models and approaches
•Demonstrate a knowledge of policy development in health promotion from a national and international perspective
•Analyse and critically evaluate nursing interventions which aim to address the health promotion needs different client groups
