This module aims to teach the student

1.        the principles of injury prevention

2.        the principles of conducting a clinical consultation

3.        the principles of history taking

4.        detailed functional and surface anatomy of the lower limb

5.        the principles and techniques of clinical assessment of lower limb injuries with a view to making an accurate diagnosis

6.        the principles and usefulness of musculoskeletal diagnostic imaging



Learning Outcomes

After successful completion of this module the student will be able to demonstrate a knowledge and understanding of:

1.        functional anatomy of the lower limbs

2.        surface anatomy of the lower limbs

3.        the principles and techniques of conducting clinical consultations

4.        how to take a complete history from a patient with a lower limb injury

5.        how to clinically examine the lower limbs the principles and usefulness of diagnostic imaging in sports medicine
