Module Aims
To introduce and explore the philosophy, models and principles of health promotion theory and practice.

Learning Outcomes
1. To describe and discuss competing definitions and models of health and health promotion. 2. To investigate the implications for practice of various definitions and models of health and health promotion. 3. To explore the different root and philosophies of public health, health education and health promotion and, by doing so, understand the distinctive nature of health promotion. 4. To understand the methodologies, settings, key target groups, and topics addressed in current health promotion practices. 5. To understand the principles of health promotion, planning and evaluation. 6. To understand the concept of health and its relationship to physical activity, exercise and health. 7. To evaluate the efficacy of physical activity interventions in promoting healthy choices.
