•Enhance knowledge and understanding of research designs.
•Foster an appreciation of the principles and process of evidence based practice and its    
utilisation.       
•Develop critical analysis of research designs.
•Develop critical skills in literature reviewing 
•Acquire skills necessary to develop a research proposal



Learning Outcomes

On successful completion of this module and following a period of personal study it is intended that the student will be able to:
•Develop searchable, answerable practice-related questions using an EBP approach.
•Apply the principles of database searching and literature reviewing. 
•Formulate researchable research questions.
•Critically discuss qualitative and quantitative research methods.
•Critically evaluate research studies in the professional literature.
•Critically discuss methodological rigour of quantitative and qualitative methodologies.
•Critically discuss the principles of reporting and disseminating research findings.
•Evaluate research utilisation and application in everyday nursing practice.
