Module Aims:

  • To enable students to undertake a research project in an area related to Athletic Therapy and Training.
  • To develop the necessary skills to design and execute a research project.
  • To develop the ability to present, interpret and discuss research results.
  • To develop a team approach where appropriate.


Learning Outcomes

Learning Outcomes:

Depending on their choice of research subject, students should gain:

  • The ability to design and execute research experiments in the laboratory or field.
  • 'Hands on' experience with routine laboratory equipment or practical understanding of experimentation to complement lectures.
  • The capability of working independently and in a research team.
    The ability to design and plan a project and manage the time involved to complete the project within given time constraints.
  • Skills in accurately recording experimental and other data.
  • The ability to critically analyse and interpret data.
  • The ability to present results in a clear and concise manner.
  • Use of information sources - archives, library, computer etc.

Indicative Syllabus

Indicative Syllabus:

  • The student will research a directed or chosen project.
  • On completion of the project, the student will present their results at a series of seminars to an audience of peers and academic staff as well as in poster presentation format.
  • The student will subsequently submit a typed report of the research for inspection.
