Module Aims

This purpose of this module is to prepare students for the construction of a research thesis at masters degree level. It aims to introduce students to a range of research methodologies.

Learning Outcomes

Having undertaken this module, students will be able to:

Understand the process involved in the structuring of a thesis
Identify helpful sources, conceptualise terms and create coherent arguments within the framework of a literature review
Explore the philosophies behind various research approaches
To construct a research proposal.

Research traditions and paradigms in the social sciences. Action research, critical inquiry and reflective practices as theories and practices. Action research, reflective practice and the process of continuous improvement Research designs and methodologies. Qualitative research/ethnographic research/ interpretative research.
