Description

The module prepares participants for the design, development and operationalisation of their research dissertation research project. Participants are given a firm foundation on the philosophy of social science and paradigm shifts. The enduring and dominant perspectives in Organisational Psychology/Behaviour are reviewed and appraoches assessed. The developmennt of valid research questions and hypotheses are covered. Participants will develop the skills to design objective interview schedules and survey questionnaires. Data gathering and data storage issues are dealt with and the ethical issues underpinning organisational research are covered in depth. Quantitative data analysis skills are developed (SPSS) and participants submit their own model for their research topic.

1. Discriminate between qualitative and quantitative approaches to research design and delivery
2. Evaluate the ethical robustness of their research proposal
3. Translate SPSS quantitative data output to conceptual level
4. Present and defend research proposal
5. Develop a robust research proposal
