Description On successful completion of this module the student will be able to evaluate the nature of nursing and its position within the wider health care arena. In this module, key concepts in nursing are analysed using aspects of philosophical inquiry. Perspectives of nursing as a science, as an art and as a practice are used to elucidate how the conduct of nursing can be articulated. The evolution of theory and research and its contribution to the development of nursing knowledge is also examined. This module is a core module to the Bachelor of Nursing Studies programme and is delivered part-time to individuals with possession of a current An Bord Altranais registration. Students will be expected to participate in class and utilize the on-line learning resources provided. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Analyse key concepts that underpin clinical nursing practice. 2. Examine the nature of nursing practice and its evolving role in health care. 3. Evaluate sources of nursing knowledge as a basis for nursing care. 4. Explore research and knowledge development in nursing. 5.
