Description The module will introduce the fundamental components of fitness and principles of training and as they apply to the design and development of training programmes for different populations. Students will apply these core theoretical concepts to training programme the design as well as field based fitness assessment. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Explain the different dimensions of physical activity and health and the way physical activity influences health. 2. Identify and explain the key components of fitness and principles of training and apply them to training programme design. 3. Explain the current training theory and practice as it relates to the development and implementation of training programmes designed to enhance flexibility, body composition and endurance. 4. Describe the key musculoskeletal and biomechanical factors affecting strength and conditoning programme design. 5. Execute and instruct fundamental resistance training exercises. 6. Outline the fundamental principles of fitness assessment and demonstrate the ability to implement basic field based fitness tests. 7.
