INACTIVE - To enable students to undertake a research project in the field of Biotechnology. To develop skills in laboratory or computational research. To develop skills in presentation and analysis of the results of scientific research.

Indicative Content and Learning Activities

The student will choose a research project from a list submitted by academic staff. Having undertaken the Literature Survey module (BE491) in semester 7, the student will have researched the background to the project.

The student will spend 20-25 hours per week for an 8-week period undertaking the project in the research laboratory managed by their academic supervisor.

At the end of this period, the student will present their results at a series of seminars to an audience of their peers and academic staff.

Following the oral presentations, the student will submit a typed version of the work for inspection by 2 internal and 2 external examiners.
