Description

What are International Organisations (IOs) and what role do they play in world politics? This course will set out to answer these questions by introducing students to the history and functioning of contemporary IOs including the UN, the WTO, the IMF and a number of regional organisations.

Learning Outcomes

1. Identify the roles and respobsibilities of different IOs
2. Understand the functioning of the UN Security Council
3. Critically assess the role of different member states in driving the agendas of IOs
4. Understand the role of economic IOs in governing the global economy
