Description

To examine the evidence and principles of care management of patients with or being investigated for cardiovascular, respiratory, lymphatic and endocrine conditions. The psychological and social aspects of these conditions as well as of nursing care will be considered. The module is delivered through a combination of lectures, clinical skills sessions and group tutorials.

Learning Outcomes

1. Demonstrate the ability to assess, plan, implement and evaluate the nursing management of patients with cardiovascular, respiratory, lymphatic and endocrine conditions.
2. Perform the clinical skills deemed necessary for the nursing management of the above patient/client groups.
3. Explore the nurses' role in health promotion in reltion to the above patient/client group.
4. Discuss the role of the multidisciplinary team in relation to the above patients/clients.
5. Demonstrate an understanding of the social and psychological aspects of these conditions and of the nursing care attached to them.

Biological aspects of disease: Biological aspects of disease and particular conditions affecting the cardiovascular system, the respiratory system, lymphatic and endocrine conditions.

-In respect of the above patient/client groups

-Assessment strategies, care planning and delivery techniques, evaluation of care.

-The contribution of theoretical approaches to care.

-Relevant cognitive, affective and psycho-motor skills.

-Pharmaceutical interventions.
