The module will aim to equip participants with the skills necessary to promote, implement and sustain evidence-based practice within their respective clinical / healthcare settings.

Learning Outcomes

1. Discuss the evolution and importance of evidence-based practice in Health Care.
2. Develop searchable, answerable practice related questions using an Evidence-based Practice approach.
3. Appraise best available evidence incorporating patient preferences (where applicable) to underpin decision-making.
4. Evaluate best available evidence to optimise patient outcomes
5. Identify strategies to integrate evidence into practice.
6. Recognise challenges that may exist to promoting active participation in EBP among colleagues.

Evolution of Evidence-based Practice (EBP). Steps of EBP. Developing searchable, answerable questions using templates. Search techniques including library database tutorials. Critical appraisal tools to determine quality of evidence gathered. Synthesis tables to evaluate best available evidence for practice. Implementing evidence into practice / Strategies for organisational change. Measurement methodology for Outcomes Management.
