Description

This module offers a wide range of practical musical experiences through choral singing; sight-reading; pitching; vocal training; ensemble singing; general musicianship; use of relative sol-fa and awareness of harmonic structure; knowledge of intervals; teamwork; rehearsal technique; rehearsal and performance organisation; knowledge of repertoire and musical style. A major component of this module is the development of individual performance on the student's chosen instrument/voice.

Learning Outcomes

1. Demonstrate competence in musicianship, and extend their instrumental/performance skills and experience to a level appropriate to Year 1.
2. Display score-reading, sight-reading and listening skills.
3. Engage in the organisation of rehearsals and performances, using the necessary interpersonal skills.
4. Apply the competencies acquired to the teaching context.
