Description

This module will introduce students to the critical analysis of research in sport science. It will also introduce students to common quantitative research methodologies, designs, statistical concepts and analytical techniques in sport science. A heavy emphasis will be placed on practical experience through reading and reviewing journal articles.

Learning Outcomes

1. 1. Describe the essential components of a research paper and outline how to critically assess the strengths and weaknesses of research
2. 2. Describe basic quantitative research designs and methods, and assess their strengths and limitations
3. 3. Understand statistical concepts such as mean, standard deviation
4. 4. Demonstrate an understanding of how to write a journal article critique
