Description

This module provides a framework for students to develop a critical theoretical awareness of media practice within a broader multimedia environment and provides the analytical, reflexive, and scholarly overviews necessary for students to grasp issues as they relate to the political economy, creative industries, and practice based/led research. Students through lectures, reading, writing and/or the production of an audiovisual essay will utilize and explore digital technologies in order to investigate their objects of study.

Learning Outcomes

1. 1. Investigate theory, history and practice in multimedia.
2. 2. Develop writing skills through the production of an essay/or develop audiovisual essay skills through the production of an audiovisual essay.
3. 3. Show proficiency when analyzing media texts.
4. 4. Produce an essay/audiovisual essay that comments on theoretical or historical concerns in academic writing.
5. 5. Appraise the growing and evolving fields of multimedia/new media industries.
