Description

This module offers a wide range of practical musical experience through aural training; general musicianship; keyboard skills; instrumental performance; and chorale. The module includes students' engagement in individual instrumental/vocal tuition, with subsidised lessons made available on-site through the Artane School of Music

Learning Outcomes

1. Demonstrate musicianship, instrumental and vocal skills at a level appropriate to Year 3.
2. Utilise aural perception skills appropriate to the level.
3. Complete a range of keyboard tasks including accompaniment, transposition, clef-reading, dictation, and figured bass at an appropriate level.
4. Show further familiarity with choral repertoire and style, and use rehearsal leadership and organisation skills in a range of contexts.
5. Apply the competencies acquired to the teaching context.

Indicative Content and Learning Activities

This practical musicianship module covers:
Listening skills: aural perception; dictation; stylistic analysis; sight-singing. Keyboard harmony: improvisation; harmonisation of melodies/ basses / transposition; Instrumental performance and sight-reading; Choral rehearsal and performance.
