Description

This module will equip students with a good working knowledge of contemporary issues and approaches to chronic disease management

Learning Outcomes

1. Evaluate a variety of theoretical perspectives on chronic disease such as, the disease model, behavioural models, disability perspectives, and human experience and the implications each has for clinical practice,
2. Evaluate national and international approaches to CDM incorporating political, social, economic, epidemiological and environmental perspectives.
3. Critical analyse concepts such as person-centred care, empowerment, self-management and consider the role of the healthcare professional
4. Critically appraise the cycle of CDM from prevention and health promotion to end of life care.
5. Consider the contribution and future of ehealth technologies in CDM
6. Critically explore notions of effectiveness in CDM and measures thereof
