The module will equip participants with the skills necessary to move forward with the integration of evidence into practice promoting sustained engagement with and evaluation of evidence-based practice (EBP) within their workplace settings.

Learning Outcomes

1. Discuss the evolution and importance of evidence-based practice in Health Care.
2. Develop searchable, answerable practice related questions using an Evidence-based Practice approach.
3. Appraise best available evidence incorporating patient preferences (where applicable) to underpin decision-making.
4. Integrate evidence into decision-making incorporating own expertise and client preferences.
5. Measure and evaluate outcomes of EBP endeavour to optimise client outcomes.
6. Recognise obstacles and opportunities to promoting active participation in EBP among colleagues.

Evolution of Evidence-based Practice (EBP). Steps of EBP. Developing searchable, answerable questions using templates. Search techniques including library database tutorials. Critical appraisal tools to determine quality of evidence gathered. Synthesis tables to evaluate best available evidence for practice. Implementing evidence into practice / Strategies for organisational change. Measurement methodology for Outcomes Management.
