This module aims to provide an understanding of the nature and future direction of electronic commerce. It will provide an appreciation of the current and emerging trends in media/technology used in electronic commerce; and an understanding of the alternative forms of electronic commerce, namely, E-Business, E-Government and E-Retailing.

Learning Outcomes

1. Explain the nature and future direction of eCommerce
2. Identify the main issues surrounding E-Commerce including E-Services, E-Trade and the ethical and legal aspects of E-Business.
3. Identify the current and emerging trends in media/technology used in E-Commerce
4. Identify alternative forms of E-Business
5. Identify the roles and interests of E-Commerce stakeholders
6. Locate, extract and analyse data from a range of sources and to correctly acknowledge and reference these sources.
7. Apply information technology skills in a business context.
8. Demonstrate management competencies such as leadership, negotiation, effective listening and team membership.
9. Demonstrate effective communication skills including the presentation of quantitative and qualitative data using a variety of media and reporting formats.
