Description

This module provides an introduction to mechanics. Focus is on key concepts and algebra-based methods are used. The associated laboratory sessions allow students to explore the relationship between the classroom material and experiments.

Learning Outcomes

1. Describe and apply basic physical concepts as they relate to mechanics
2. Solve numerical problems in mechanics
3. Describe, apply and explain in detail the concepts of speed and acceleration, force, work and energy, and momentum
4. Demonstrate fundamental knowledge of basic mechanics by carrying out assigned problems in the lab
5. Review experimental processes critically
