Description This module critically examines the relationship between physical spaces and the reception, perception, and impact of media forms within them. Students will examine concepts of curation and layout in gallery / exhibition spaces, acoustics and spatial audio, and planning for multimedia installations. The module will also examine the spatial relations of mediated communications in public spaces such as urban environments. The module specifically engages with media spaces in the context of artistic and expressive installations, curated galleries or exhibitions, heritage / cultural spaces, and information / learning spaces, any of which incorporate multimedia elements. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Critically engage with the literature around spatial planning and media 2. Examine the relationships between media forms and physical spaces. 3. Apply concepts and theories of audience and participant interaction to situated media, such as installations or exhibits. 4.
