Description

This course provides students with an opportunity to put into practice the skills they have accrued during six taught modules of the MA programme, in the form of a major original work of creative writing. During the module they will create an original long-form piece of writing in one of the major forms they have studied - a novella, a full-length play, a feature-length screenplay or a poetry collection - enabling students to develop and discover the stories they want to tell, and the voice they wish to express, in their own unique style. The emphasis is on creating a well-crafted, original piece of work that demonstrates both technical competence and individual self-expression. The process of developing a manuscript prepares students for a range of future opportunities in writing, editing, production, and various forms of employment in the marketplace of literary and creative production, as well as aiding their understanding of the craft and techniques of writing, in terms of academic studies.
