Description

This module will equip students to identify their own knowledge, skills and abilities, to match these with the knowledge, skills and abilities required by employers of graduates, and to consider the implications of any gaps that are identified. The module covers topics such as the nature of careers, career planning, CV preparation, interview preparation and job search. The module is organized around lectures, discussions and practicals and will include visits from guest speakers on the career opportunities available both nationally and internationally.

Learning Outcomes

1. Explain the processes involved in career planning.
2. Evaluate their own knowledge, skills and abilities and how these relate to different types of career opportunities
3. Critically assess the range of job opportunities available to graduates both nationally and internationally
4. Prepare a CV and know how to adjust this in line with available opportunities
5. Demonstrate the skills required to perform well at both interview and in presentations.
6. Demonstrate the ability to work effectively in a work environment (work placement).
