Description

The aim of this module is to provide students with a comprehensive overview of the adaptation and integration processes of refugees from a theoretical perspective. It will analyse the causes of forced migration and the socio-political context within which relocation takes place. It will then explore the different theories of integration, adaptation and cross-cultural communication relevant to the phenomenon.

Learning Outcomes

1. Demonstrate an understanding of the background of forced migration and of the debate generated by the arrival of refugees in EU countries.
2. Identify and critically engage with a variety of theories which are relevant to the field of forced migration, including theories relating to cross-cultural adaption and host receptivity.
3. Apply learned theoretical constructs to concrete examples
4. Offer practical strategies to deal with challenges related to refugee integration experience.
