Description

This module focuses on working in collaboration with learners, parents, colleagues, other professionals and other stakeholders. The module will also inculcate within participants a nuanced understanding of the processes involved in achieving sustainable educational change that is congruent with inclusive principles. It will increase their capacity to play an active role in facilitating, leading and managing this at various levels within the educational system.

Learning Outcomes

1. Lead and collaborate effectively with learners, parents, colleagues, other professionals and all stakeholders regarding the sharing of information and the support of learners.
2. Empower learner self-advocacy and acting as an advocate on their behalf where appropriate.
3. Cultivate among their colleagues an approach to curriculum implementation that is cognisant of learners’ individual strengths and areas for development and collaborate with colleagues in their planning for and implementation of inclusive pedagogy and differentiated curricula.
4. Critically analyse different models of organisation employed in schools/centres in relation to their effectiveness and appropriateness in providing for the inclusion of diverse learners.
5. Demonstrate an awareness of theories of leadership that might usefully inform inclusive practice.
6. Critically evaluate issues surrounding change and change management at individual, class, department, school/centre and wider system levels.
