Description

This module builds on an understanding of concepts in molecular biology and immunology. It aims to teach a range of methods in these subject areas by providing training in selected relevant techniques.

Learning Outcomes

1. isolate, quantitate and analyse nucleic acid preparations from various sources
2. Qualitatively analyse a Single Nucleotide Polymorphism-containing DNA sequence using methods including Polymerase Chain Reaction, hybridisation probes, restriction endonuclease analysis and electrophoresis
3. isolate and characterise polyclonal antibodies and conjugate antibodies with enzyme labels
