Description The purpose of this module is to examine issues of global importance from an economist's perspective. Topics such as corruption, inequality, poverty, and gender issues will be covered alongside more traditional "globalisation" topics such as growth and development, FDI, and Foreign Aid. In addition, the effects of trade and globalisation will be examined in the light of our topics as will the effects of various factors on trade. We will very much have an empirical focus and will pay particular attention to issues of measurement. While the focus is Economics, the course material will lend itself to interdisciplinary discussion, suited to the nature of the students' degree. Students are expected to attend lectures, participate in class discussion and complete an independent research project. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
