Description To equip student teachers with the ability to define, create and maintain an effective learning environment. To introduce students to contemporary approaches in a range of teaching & learning skills. To develop confidence in a range of initial teaching skills through reviews, analysis, demonstration, peer coaching and guided feedback To provide students with a detailed knowledge and understanding of the content and assessment methodology of the Junior Cycle and Senior Cycle curricula in curriculum Science in second-level schools. All students are required to participate in Micro-teaching as part of this module. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Describe the content, methodology and assessment techniques of the Junior Cycle and Senior Cycle syllabus in curriculum Science as taught in second-level schools 2. Map an appropriate teaching scheme for the Junior Cycle and Senior Cycle Syllabus in curriculum Science as taught in second-level schools. 3. Articulate and relate the appropriate teaching methods and specific challenges in delivering curriculum Science as taught in second-level schools. 4. Design a range of resources appropriate for use in the teaching curriculum Science as taught in second-level schools. 5. Work in collegiality with colleagues in the interests of sharing, promoting, developing and supporting best professional practice in the teaching of Science in second level schools. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
