Description This module aims to: 1. Develop an understanding of the principles required to assess and evaluate the facilitation skills associated with the management of groups and organisations. 2. To examine and practice the strategies/skills which can be implemented for working with a group or an organisation in order to facilitate a changing & creative environment. 3. To give students the opportunity to reflect on their own style of participation in a group setting. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Critically examine the theoretical assumptions used to explain the nature and function of groups. 2. Critically examine why and how change is resisted and what can be done to manage this resistance in a group context. 3. Diagnose conflict situations in the workplace and describe effective and ineffective ways of dealing with it. 4. Assess the implications of group dynamics through participation in the class group experience. 5. Develop competency and skills to competently initiate, lead and close groups. 6. Critically assess current supervision models to inform the practice of guidance and counselling 7. Appraise one's own personal development and personal learning style and their influence on role and group dynamics through participation in the group process. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
