Description INACTIVE - This module will enable the student to develop knowledge, attitudes and skills in order to provide health promotion interventions to individuals and communities in a variety of settings. It will be delivered by lecturers, seminars and interactive lectures.Students will be encouraged to develop knowledge and skill in their area of interest by exploring a range of relevant topics. Students will be expected to read and critique Irish department of health policies, strategies and documentation from a broad perspective.They will be expected to develop critical thinking skills.This module will encourage students to become self directed learners through participation in group work, library access and critical reflection skills. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
Learning Outcomes 1. Analyse the concept of health and health promotion. 2. Debate key principles of health promotion and how they underpin health care delivery to the individual, family and community. 3. Examine the concept of policy development in health promotion from a national and international perspective. 4. Discuss the impact of using various approaches and models of health promotion to underpin health care delivery. 5. Appraise the contribution of epidemiology to health promotion. 6. Critique the role of the nurse in meeting the health promotion needs of different client groups. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
